      CONTAMINATION OF FOOD

      The Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Amnesic Shellfish Poisoning) (West Coast) Partial Revocation (No. 2) (Scotland) Order 1999

        Made 9th November 1999 
        Laid before the Scottish Parliament 17th November 1999 
        Coming into force in accordance with article 1

      The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1(1) and (2) and section 24(1) of the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985[1], and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:

      Citation and commencement
           1. This Order may be cited as the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Amnesic Shellfish Poisoning) (West Coast) Partial Revocation (No. 2) (Scotland) Order 1999 and shall come into force at 16.30 hours on 9th November 1999.

      Interpretation
          
      2. In this Order "the principal Order" means The Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Amnesic Shellfish Poisoning) (West Coast) (Scotland) Order 1999[2].

      Partial Revocation of the principal Order
           3. The principal Order is revoked insofar as it designates any part of the area set out in the Schedule to this Order being within the area bearing the letter A described in paragraph 1 of the Schedule to the principal Order.

      SCHEDULE
      Article 3

      The area of sea below high water springs enclosed by a line starting at a point on the north east coast of Lewis at 58°30'N 6°13.4'W; then east to a point on the mainland of Scotland at 58°30'N 5°07.2'W; then south along the western mainland shore to a point north of Stoerhead at 58°15'N 5°23.5'W; then west to a point on the east coast of Lewis at 58°15'N 6°09'W; then north along the eastern shore of Lewis to the start point.

      EXPLANATORY NOTE

      (This note is not part of the Order)

      This Order is the second partial revocation of the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Amnesic Shellfish Poisoning) (West Coast) (Scotland) Order 1999 ("the principal Order") which prohibited-

        (a) fishing for or taking scallops within the area designated in the Schedule to that Order (article 4);

        (b) movement of such scallops out of that area (article 5); and

        (c) landing, using in the preparation of processing for supply of food of, supplying and other specified activities in relation to, such scallops from the designated area (article 6).

      The effect of this Order is to remove the prohibitions in respect of the area of sea designated in the Schedule to this Order, which forms part of the area of sea designated as Area A in the Schedule to the principal Order.
