POLICE ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 1970 - SECT 3

Staff of the Police Authority.

3.(1) The following provisions of this section shall have effect with respect
to the powers of the Police Authority under section 19 of the Interpretation
Act (Northern Ireland) 1954 to employ staff.

(2) The Police Authority with the approval of the Ministry shall appoint a
chief administrative officer who shall be secretary to the Authority and who
shall carry out such functions as may be assigned to him by the Authority.

(3) The conditions of service of the officer appointed under subsection (2)
and the numbers and conditions of service of other staff employed by the
Police Authority shall be subject to the approval of the Ministry.

(4) The Police Authority may make arrangements ... for administrative,
secretarial or other assistance to be provided for the Authority by officers
[of the civil service of the Crown or, as the case may be,] of the civil
service.
