MINES ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 1969 - SECT 108



108.(1) Without prejudice to the provisions of section 88, regulations may be
made for the purpose of ensuring that persons who have not attained such age
as may be prescribed and who are, or are to be, employed below ground in mines
in any work receive appropriate training by competent persons in order to
ensure adequate preparation for the particular type of work in which they are,
or are to be, engaged and such further training, if any, as may be prescribed.

(2) Regulations made under this section may impose conditions or requirements
for the purpose of securing the safety, health and welfare of persons to whom
the regulations apply.

(3) Where an order or orders under subsection (3) of section 106 is or are in
force

(a)substituting for the age mentioned in subsection (2) of that section a
greater age than that so mentioned or making that subsection applicable to all
male young persons, and

(b)providing for any exception from the prohibition contained in the said
subsection (2) by reference to a specified age,

(i)he has attained the specified age and has completed any course of training
which is applicable in his case by virtue of the regulations, and

(ii)his employment is in accordance with such of the conditions or
requirements imposed under subsection (2) of this section as may be
prescribed.
