In exercise of powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 485(a) and 489(1) of the Education Act 1996(1), the Secretary of State for Education and Employment hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Grants) (Purcell School) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 1st January 2001.
2. The Secretary of State may on or before 28th February 2001 pay a grant of such amount as he may determine to the governors of the Purcell School ("the School") in respect of expenditure incurred or to be incurred by the governors, on, or in connection with, the refurbishment of the School's premises at Aldenham Road, Bushey, Hertfordshire.
3. The payment of grant under these Regulations shall be dependant on the fulfilment of such conditions as may be specified by the Secretary of State.
4. Where a grant is paid under these Regulations the governors of the School shall comply with such requirements (including requirements as to the repayment of the grant or the payment to the Secretary of State of other sums representing the value of the refurbishment carried out with the aid of grant or interest on sums due to him) as may be specified by the Secretary of State.

These Regulations authorise the Secretary of State to pay a grant to the Governors of the Purcell School, to help meet the expenditure incurred in refurbishing the School's premises at Aldenham Road, Bushey, Hertfordshire. Payment is subject to such conditions and requirements as the Secretary of State may specify.
