The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 43(2) and (6) of the Road Traffic Act 1972(1) and now vested in him(2), and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with section 199(2) of that Act, hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Tests) (Amendment) Regulations 1988 and shall come into force on 1st April 1988.
2. The Motor Vehicles (Tests) Regulations 1981(3) are hereby amended so that in the regulations specified in column 1 of the Table below for the words specified in column 2 of that Table there are substituted the words specified in column 3 of the Table.

These Regulations amend the Motor Vehicles (Tests) Regulations 1981 so that:-
(a)the fee payable for the examination of a vehicle Class VI is increased from £33 to £34.50 if the vehicle is constructed or adapted to carry more than 12 passengers, and from £23 to £24 in any other case. These increases apply in respect of an examination following an application under regulation 12 and to a re-test after an interval of more than 14 days;
(b)the fee payable for the re-test of a Vehicle Class VI within 14 days of an examination following an application under regulation 12 is increased from £16.50 to £17 if the vehicle is constructed or adapted to carry more than 12 passengers and from £11.50 to £12 in any other case; and
(c)the fee payable for the issue of a duplicated test certificate in the case of a vehicle in Class VI is increased from £7 to £7.50.
