1. The new highways which the Secretary of State proposes to construct-
(a)along the routes described in Schedule 1 to this Order (the highways along these routes being in this Order referred to as "the main new trunk road"), and
(b)along the routes described in Schedule 2 to this Order which connect the main new trunk road with other highways at the place stated in that Schedule (the highways along these routes being in this Order referred to as "the slip roads")
shall become trunk roads as from the date when this Order comes into force.
2. The centre lines of the new trunk roads are indicated by heavy black lines on the deposited plan.
3. The Secretary of State directs as respects any part of a highway which crosses the route of any of the new trunk roads that-
(a)where the highway is a highway maintainable at the public expense by a local highway authority, the part in question shall be maintained by that authority, and
(b)where the highway is not a highway so maintainable and is not maintainable under a special enactment or by reason of tenure, enclosure or prescription, the Secretary of State shall be under no duty to maintain the part in question
until, in either case, a date to be specified in a notice given by the Secretary of State to the highway authority for that highway. The date specified will not be later than the date on which the relevant route is opened for the purposes of through traffic.
4. In this Order:-
(1) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;
(2) (i) "the deposited plan" | means the plan numbered HA10/2-SWM47 marked "The Exeter-Launceston-Bodmin Trunk Road A30 (Plusha to Bolventor Improvement and Slip Roads) Order 1988" signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY; |
(ii) "the new trunk roads" | means the main new trunk road and the slip roads; |
(iii) "the trunk road" | means the Exeter-Launceston-Bodmin Trunk Road (A30). |
5. This Order shall come into force on 11th November 1988 and may be cited as the Exeter-Launceston-Bodmin Trunk Road A30 (Plusha to Bolventor Improvement and Slip Roads) Order 1988.

The routes of the main new trunk road are routes between Plusha and Bolventor in the County of Cornwall and are as follows:-
(1) a route about 1.30 kilometres in length starting at a point on the trunk road about 60 metres east of High Clere, proceeding in a generally westerly direction and ending at a point on the trunk road about 340 metres north-east of Trewint Marsh Garage, and given the reference number "3" on the deposited plan;
(2) a route about 810 metres in length starting at a point on the trunk road about 40 metres north-east of Cannaframe proceeding in a south-westerly direction and ending at a point on the trunk road about 80 metres south-west of Webb's Down, and given the reference number "4" on the deposited plan;
(3) a route about 140 metres in length starting at a point on the trunk road about 320 metres south-west of Higher Cannaframe, proceeding in a south-westerly direction and ending at a point on the trunk road about 20 metres north-west of Lonkeymoor, and given the reference number "5" on the deposited plan;
(4) a route about 1.41 kilometres in length, starting at a point on the trunk road about 170 metres south-west of Palmersbridge proceeding in a south-westerly direction and ending at a point on the trunk road about 250 metres south-west of Bolventor Sunday School, and given the reference number "6" on the deposited plan.
The routes of the slip roads are as follows:-
(1) Two routes to connect the westbound carriageway of the main new trunk road as described in paragraph (1) of Schedule 1, with a roundabout to be constructed as part of the improved unclassified road from Fivelanes to Tregirls (the new trunk roads along these routes being given the reference numbers "1" and "2" respectively on the deposited plan);
(2) A route to connect the eastbound carriageway of the main new trunk road as described in paragraph (2) of Schedule 1 with a new unclassified highway to be constructed at Cannaframe (the new trunk road along this route being given the reference number "7" on the deposited plan);
(3) A route to connect the westbound carriageway of the main new trunk road as described in paragraph (4) of Schedule 1, with the trunk road, to the north-east of Bolventor (the new trunk road along this route being given the reference number "8" on the deposited plan);
(4) A route to connect the eastbound carriageway of the main new trunk road as described in paragraph (4) of Schedule 1, with the improved unclassified road to Codda at Bolventor (the new trunk road along this route being given the reference number "9" on the deposited plan).
