This date will be notified in the London, Edinburgh and Belfast Gazettes.

G.I. de Deney
Clerk of the Privy Council
Treaty amending, with regard to Greenland, the Treaties establishing the European Communities and the Protocol attached to it, signed at Brussels on 13th March 1984 (Cmnd. 9283).
This Order declares the Treaty amending, with regard to Greenland, the Treaties establishing the European Communities with the Protocol attached to it, to be a Community Treaty as defined in section 1(2) of the European Communities Act 1972. The Treaty excludes Greenland from the area of application of the Treaties establishing the European Coal and Steel Community and the European Atomic Energy Community (Cmnd. 7461 and 7462). It, together with its Protocol, amends the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community (Cmnd. 7460) by including Greenland within the scope of Articles 131 to 136 and within Annex IV of that Treaty, which relate to the association of overseas countries and territories with the Community. It repeals the existing Protocol No. 4 to the Act of Accession of 1972 (Cmnd. 7463).
The principal effect of declaring the Treaty and its Protocol to be a Community Treaty as so defined is to bring into play, in relation to it, the provisions of section 2 of the European Communities Act 1972 which provide for the implementation of treaties so specified.
