Whereas Her Majesty, in pursuance of the Regency Acts 1937 to 1953, was pleased, by Letters Patent dated the 30th day of September 1982, to delegate to the six Counsellors of State therein named or any two or more of them full power and authority during the period of Her Majesty's absence from the United Kingdom to summon and hold on Her Majesty's behalf Her Privy Council and to signify thereat Her Majesty's approval for anything for which Her Majesty's approval in Council is required:
Now, therefore, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother and Her Royal Highness The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, being authorised thereto by the said Letters Patent, and in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 25(1) and 45(1) of the Maintenance Orders (Reciprocal Enforcement) Act 1972 and by and with the advice of Her Majesty's Privy Council, do on Her Majesty's behalf order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Recovery Abroad of Maintenance (Convention Countries) Order 1982 and shall come into operation on 1st December 1982.
2.-(1) It is hereby declared that Suriname, being a country or territory outside the United Kingdom to which the United Nations Convention on the Recovery Abroad of Maintenance done at New York on 20th June 1956 extends, is a convention country for the purposes of Part II of the Maintenance Orders (Reciprocal Enforcement) Act 1972.
(2) The Schedule to the Recovery Abroad of Maintenance (Convention Countries) Order 1975(1) shall be varied by inserting, after the word "Sri Lanka", the word "Suriname".

This Order declares that Suriname is a convention country for the purposes of Part II of the Maintenance Orders (Reciprocal Enforcement) Act 1972 and adds Suriname to the list of countries and territories (set out in the Schedule to the Recovery Abroad of Maintenance (Convention Countries) Order 1975) to which the United Nations Convention on the Recovery Abroad of Maintenance, done at New York on 20th June 1956, extends.
