I, ALBERT REYNOLDS, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 4A (inserted by section 3 of the Decimal Currency Act, 1990 (No. 2 of 1990)) of the Decimal Currency Act, 1969 (No. 23 of 1969), hereby make the following Regulations: |

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Coinage (Weight and Composition of and Remedy for Certain Copper Coins) Regulations, 1990. |

2. A coin of the denomination of one penny, and a coin of the denomination of two pence, provided under section 4A (inserted by the Decimal Currency Act, 1990 (No. 2 of 1990)) of the Decimal Currency Act, 1969 (No. 23 of 1969), shall be of the standard weight and standard composition specified in relation thereto in columns (2) and (3) of the Schedule to these Regulations and there shall be allowed in respect of those coins the remedy (or variation from the standard weight) stated in relation thereto in column (4) of that Schedule. |

EXPLANATORY NOTE |
||||||||||||||||||
These Regulations provide for the issue of the 1p and 2p coins in a new metallic composition as specified. The weights, designs and dimensions of the coins will remain the same as at present. |
