Coming into operation
1st September 2025
1. These regulations may be cited as the Legal Complaints and Regulation Act (Northern Ireland) 2016 (Appeals) Regulations 2025 and shall come into operation on 1stSeptember 2025.
2. In these regulations “ the 2016 Act” means the Legal Complaints and Regulation Act (Northern Ireland) 2016.
3. An appeal, against a determination of the Bar Complaints Committee, may be made to the High Court where the determination contains a direction in accordance with section 19 of the 2016 Act.
4. An appeal, against a determination the Solicitors Complaints Committee, may be made to the High Court where the determination contains a direction in accordance with section 38 of the 2016 Act.

These regulations specify the circumstances in which appeals may be made to the High Court against determinations made by the Complaints Committee of either the Law Society or the Honourable Society of the Inn of Court of Northern Ireland.
