The Minister for the Environment and Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 270 of the Planning and Development Act, 2000 ( No. 30 of 2000 ) hereby orders as follows: |

1. This Order may be cited as the Planning and Development Act, 2000 (Commencement) Order, 2000. |
||||||||
2. In this Order, the Act means the Planning and Development Act, 2000 . |
||||||||
3. On 1 November, 2000, sections 1, 2 (insofar as it relates to the sections commenced on that date), 13, 28, 29, 30, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 100, 101, 165, 166, 167, 168, 169, 170, 171, 262, 266, 269, and 270 of the Act shall come into operation. |

4. On 1 January, 2001, sections 2 (insofar as it relates to the sections commenced on that date), 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 31 and the First Schedule of the Act shall come into operation. |

This Order brings into force Part V on Housing Supply and Part IX on Strategic Development Zones, certain sections in Part II on Plans and Guidelines and related and transitional sections of the Planning and Development Act, 2000 on 1 November, 2000. The sections commenced in Part II are section 13 relating to the variation of development plans, and sections 28, 29 and 30 relating to Minister guidelines and policy directives. Section 2 which sets out interpretations for the purposes of the Act is commenced insofar as necessary for the understanding of the other sections commenced. |

The Order provides that the rest of Part II will come into force on 1 January, 2001. |
