EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (VINYL CHLORIDE IN FOOD) (METHOD OF ANALYSIS) REGULATIONS, 1984. |

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), hereby makes the following Regulations: |
||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Vinyl Chloride in Food) (Method of Analysis) Regulations, 1984. |
||
2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of May, 1984. |
||
3. (1) In these Regulations-- |
||
"the Directive" means Commission Directive 8¼32/EEC.1 |

"public analyst" means an analyst appointed by a health board to carry out the duties of a public analyst for the area of a health board or an analyst appointed by a health board to be a public analyst for its area. |
||
(2) In these Regulations words and phrases shall have the same meaning as in the Directive. |
||
4. The content of vinyl chloride in foods shall be determined by a public analyst or person under his direction in accordance with the method of analysis laid down in the Directive. |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
The Regulations specify the method of analysis to be used by a public analyst or person under his direction to determine the content of vinyl chloride in food. |
||
The Regulations implement EEC Directive No. 8¼32/EEC of 9th April, 1981, which lays down the Community method of analysis for the official control of vinyl chloride released by materials and articles into foodstuffs. |
||
The Regulations come into operation on 1st May, 1984. |
